F.A.Q.

Answers to common questions about our logistics, cross-docking, transloading, and freight-handling services.

What logistics services does Terraform Logistics provide?

Terraform Logistics provides freight-handling and distribution support, including cross-docking, transloading, container unloading, palletizing, load reworking, freight consolidation, shipment separation, and short-term storage. Services are tailored to the freight, equipment, and handling requirements of each customer.

What types of freight can you handle?

Terraform Logistics can support many types of general commercial and industrial freight, including palletized products, construction materials, machinery, equipment, packaged goods, and imported cargo. Freight involving hazardous materials, temperature control, unusual dimensions, or specialized handling must be reviewed before acceptance.

How quickly can services be scheduled?

Scheduling depends on facility capacity, labor requirements, freight type, equipment needs, and shipment timing. We can often accommodate time-sensitive requests, but advance notice helps ensure the necessary space, personnel, and equipment are available.

What information is needed to schedule service?

Please provide the freight description, total weight, piece or pallet count, dimensions, incoming and outgoing equipment types, expected arrival time, required service, and any special handling instructions. Photographs, packing lists, and shipping documents can help us plan the job accurately.

How is logistics-service pricing determined?

Pricing is based on the service required, freight volume, weight, handling complexity, labor, equipment, storage time, and scheduling requirements. After reviewing the shipment details, Terraform Logistics will provide a quote based on the specific scope of work.

How do I request logistics services?

Email Info@TerraformLogistics.com or call (346) 551-3973. Include your shipment details, requested service, anticipated arrival date, and any special handling requirements so our team can provide an accurate quote and confirm availability.

What is cross-docking?

Cross-docking is the transfer of freight from an incoming truck or container directly to an outbound vehicle, with little or no storage in between. It can reduce handling time, limit storage costs, and help freight continue moving through the supply chain efficiently.

What is transloading?

Transloading is the process of transferring freight between different types of transportation equipment, such as moving cargo from an ocean container into a dry van, flatbed trailer, or other vehicle. This service is commonly used for imported goods, industrial materials, and shipments requiring different equipment for the next stage of delivery.

What is the difference between cross-docking and transloading?

Cross-docking typically moves freight between similar transportation equipment for continued distribution. Transloading transfers freight between different equipment types or modes of transportation. Terraform Logistics can help determine the appropriate service based on the freight, destination, and handling requirements.

Can you unload shipping containers?

Yes. Terraform Logistics can unload floor-loaded or palletized shipping containers and prepare the freight for storage, pickup, or continued distribution. Services may include sorting, palletizing, wrapping, labeling, and documenting the received freight.

Is short-term storage available?

Short-term storage may be available for freight awaiting pickup, delivery, transfer, inspection, or customer instructions. Availability and pricing depend on the freight type, space requirements, handling needs, and anticipated storage period.

Can you handle both palletized and floor-loaded freight?

Yes. We can handle freight already secured on pallets as well as loose, floor-loaded cargo. Floor-loaded shipments may require additional labor, equipment, and processing time depending on the number, size, weight, and condition of the individual pieces.

Do you offer palletizing and freight reworking?

Yes. We can palletize loose freight, replace damaged pallets, restack shifted products, apply stretch wrap, secure loads, and prepare freight for continued transportation. Special packaging or materials should be discussed when scheduling service.

Can you help with shifted or rejected loads?

Yes. We can assist with shifted, leaning, damaged, or improperly secured freight that requires reworking before it can continue in transit. We may also assist with rejected loads by unloading, inspecting, photographing, restacking, repackaging, or temporarily holding the freight while the customer determines the next step.

Do you provide freight consolidation and separation services?

Yes. We can combine multiple smaller shipments into a consolidated outbound load or separate a larger shipment by destination, customer, order, or product type. This can simplify distribution and reduce unnecessary handling.
